Failure is Art

In the beginning, I thought that to be good at something, you have to always get it right on the first try, and you don't make mistakes. However, in art, that isn't true. You can't always make your best work on the first try, and to make something you are truly proud of, it takes time. You will fail and fail, but it doesn't matter as long as you learn.

Failure is a part of art. If what you made doesn't work and doesn't come out the way you wanted, you can always restart and try again. You learn from these repeated failures. That makes you better. If you never fail, you will stay stagnant in your art skills. I myself have failed so many times I can't even count. I even want to give up sometimes. That's just part of the process.

Failure also makes you realize some things you never noticed before. It can be from your designs to even the way you hold your pencils and draw. Every little detail becomes clear to you because to better yourself is to learn and correct all your little mistakes and problems. These just make your designs way better.

You also should compare your work and your skills to those of others, whether good or bad. If you downplay yourself or others, you will cause unnecessary problems for yourself and just mess with your own head. People start doing art at different times in their lives, so comparing yourself when you all have different start points makes no sense. Instead of doing that, you should focus more on your own skills and better yourself. Even if you sharpen your skills even a tiny bit, your work will get better and better.

Patience is learned from failure. Art needs time. If you fail, you can always try again until you get it right. Even if you have to keep doing it over and over again, once you get it right and accomplish what you want in the art, then all is good. You learned from your mistake and became better. To make good art, you have to experience failure and time. You have to be patient.

Failure is art. Failure helps you grow if you learn from your mistakes. It's not something to be ashamed of. To be good at art, you have to fail over and over again until you get it right. If you don't improve.

STOP FOCUSING SO MUCH ON THE LOOKS

Art and Design, to most people, is something that is very neat and beautiful. That is something I'm sure everyone has thought at least at one point in their lives. The thing is, I realized over time that it is completely not true. Even more than the actual visual of the piece, the function and whether it is actually viable to use is what's important.

Let's say you are tasked with making a building and sketching a design for said building. You spend all your time making it look nice. It's very modern, with popping colors and a creative but elegant shape. However, since you spent all your time making it look as pretty as possible from the outside, you don't know how it is from the inside. The weird and modern shapes can make living there very hard and uncomfortable. You neglected the actual function of the building because you were too focused on the aesthetic.

Another thing you should know is that your creativity is always shackled. You have to abide by the budget and the set time requirement. It's just something you have to accept unless you are a part of a huge corporation or you won it. If you want to go down this field, this is something you have to live with, no matter how frustrating it is. It's not all doom and gloom, however, since you have limited time and supplies, it really makes you use your brain creatively to effectively use the little you have.

Probably the most important thing you should think about is that what you're designing is not for you but for other people. You can't just think for yourself, but think about how the others will feel about the design and how people might like living and being since what you're designing. Just because you like it doesn't mean everyone else will. That is why you have to add your own twist to your design, but also keep it within the comfortable boundaries of your employers.

The main takeaway from this should be that art and design are something you have to work hard to be good at. It doesn't just come to you naturally, and you have to put in hours to see the fruit of your resolve. The more art you make, the more you understand.

It All Started With a Piece Of Paper

Hello. Welcome to my Blog!!! My name is Irmuun Tsendjav, and this blog is dedicated to learning more about Art, Design, and Architecture. The whole journey started with a piece of paper. To me, it seemed insignificant at the time since I was young and didn't really understand just how much you could do with that one piece of paper. It wasn't until my uncle came in and taught me origami. This was the first time I've seen this, and it was the starting point of my interest in art.

From then on, I started learning different types of art such as drawing, painting, origami, traditional animation, etc. What really interested me out of all of those was the design and architecture field. Even when I was animating, doing the background buildings and city was what I enjoyed the most. I was really fascinated with the idea of designing my own building and structures that people will actually use. At that point, I wanted to pursue this as not something I just do when I'm bored and in my free time, but something I wanted to do in the future.

The deeper I got into art and design, the more I struggled. Many kids excelled in art due to the many years of hard work, and I fell short of them because, to me, it was just a hobby until recently, at that point. However, with every hardship, the more you learn and succeed. I gradually started improving. I became more perceptive of the world and the structures around me. I started analyzing everything and gathering inspiration from them, which helped me improve substantially.

This Blog explains my journey and experience with art, but also for people who are doing art or are interested in it. I want to show not only the gains you get from this but also the many difficulties you'll face pursuing this. People are concerned about the end goal and accomplishments, but not the challenges and hurdles you faced getting to that point. This will be a transparent rundown of my experiences in art and design.
